7th Raleigh Spy Conference To Provide Exclusive Details On Bin Laden Operation
General Michael Hayden, the only person to serve as chief of the National Security Agency and the Central Intelligence Agency, is the keynote speaker for the 7th Raleigh Spy Conference August 24-26 at the NC Museum of History in downtown Raleigh
General Hayden’s presentation is titled “Killing Usama Bin Laden: Building A Bridge Pebble By Pebble”. Hayden’s stint at NSA from 1999-2005, and CIA from 2006-2009, placed him in the nerve center of the war on terrorism.
Joining General Hayden to discuss the conference theme “Spies Among US: The Secret World Of Espiopnage Illegals” are Michael Sulick, former director of the CIA’s National Clandestine Service; CIA officer Brian Kelley, the “wrong man” in the Robert Hanssen espionage investigation; Nigel West, former Member of Parliament and author of key books on espionage; and Dan Mulvenna former intelligence officer for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
The Author’s Roundtable features Douglas Waller who will discuss his new book Wild Bill Donovan about the founder of the Office of Strategic Services; former CIA agent Kent Clizbe on his upcoming book Willing Accomplices about Soviet propaganda programs in the US; and David Wise, the dean of spy authors, who will discuss his new book Tiger Trap: America’s Spy War With China.
The CIA’s Historic Publications Division will distribute booklets containing declassified documents that provide insight into the Korean War; Air America; the Warsaw Pact and other key Cold War subjects.
Go to the web site for registration details, the full schedule and information on past conferences. You can email cyndi@metromagazine.net or call 919-831-0999.
The Raleigh Spy Conference is presented by Bernie Reeves, editor and publisher of Raleigh Metro Magazine (www.metronc.com). The chairman of the Association of Intelligence Officers says the Raleigh Spy Conference “is a rare opportunity to hear it straight, with an unusual ‘insider’s perspective and knowledge…if one claims a scintilla of world-affairs knowledge, it cannot be true unless the annual Raleigh Spy Conference is on your calendar.”
